Watch any red carpet fashion recap, and you’ll see celebs wearing the jewelry creations of Lorraine Schwartz. Described as “exquisite” and “ethereal” by fans, Schwartz’s pieces are striking yet delicate, like Christina Applegate’s chandelier earrings (at left), made of blackened platinum, diamond, and amethyst, which she wore with a matching cocktail ring.
"We make the metal so fine that the light shines through," says Lorraine Schwartz of her creations. "Some people don't believe it's real," she says.
Schwartz occasionally veers from the delicate and subtle: remember that goofy robo-metal glove Beyonce wore to the MTV Europe Awards? Check it out at the right -- I have to believe Beyonce commissioned Schwartz to create the glove, since it seems like such a departure from her usual work.
Lorraine Schwartz also seems influenced by nature: her Monkey Collection was inspired by the Three Wise Monkeys (see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil). Flowers and butterflies also figure heavily into her work, like with the earrings Heidi Klum wore to this year’s Emmys (below left), made of blackened platinum, lavender jade and diamonds.
